The recent rate cut by the Australian Reserve Bank is expected to make it easier to rent property in Australia for both locals and visitors. Analysts believe landlords will pass on the benefits of interest rate cuts in order to secure tenants.
The Australian property market has been passing through a sluggish phase over the last few months on account of demand exceeding supply of new homes. The sluggishness has also led to a sustained period of rent increases, making it tough to rent property in Australia, especially for low income tenants. But experts believe the rental market has now peaked with the rate cut likely to play a major role in stabilising or even lowering rental rates.
However, data from Australian Property Monitors warns that this might only be a temporary relief and lack of new properties to meet the strong demand for rental properties will lead to an increase in rental rates and property prices in the near future. All of these point to Australia being a good market for overseas property investment.
